A Free Yard Sale With a Heart for the Community ❤

Looking for a fun way to spend your Saturday morning without spending a dime? How about browsing a yard sale, enjoying a free breakfast and finding something cool to take home?
Joy Church’s Annual Free Yard Sale returns Saturday, Sept. 26, with free finds, a free breakfast and a reminder of what this community is all about.
This fun Mt. Juliet tradition is centered around generosity and helping others. For Joy Church, it’s a chance to share a little hope, a lot of love and make a difference right here in our community.
Last year, more than 1,200 people were blessed by the event, and Joy Church is getting ready to do it all over again.
Come Find a Treasure

The yard sale will feature hundreds of donated items, including furniture and home décor, clothing and shoes, toys and games, household items, appliances, electronics, tools and more.
Whether you’re looking for something your family needs, trying to stretch your budget, or simply enjoy finding a good treasure, there’s something pretty fun about shopping when the price tag says $0.
Come Hungry!

The free stuff isn’t the only thing being given away.
Joy Church will also be serving a free breakfast from its 24-foot “Joy To Go” mobile kitchen. It’s a simple way to welcome people, share a meal and make sure everyone starts the morning with a full stomach and a little extra joy.

📝 From the Front Porch
Eddie Poole is back with us this month, taking a look at one of the things that makes Mt. Juliet such a great place to live — our parks. From favorite spots to spend an afternoon to the places that give families room to play, walk, relax, and enjoy the outdoors, Eddie takes us on a little tour of some of the parks right here in our own backyard. You might even discover a new favorite spot to enjoy this fall. 🍂

🌳 The Best Mt. Juliet Parks for Just About Everything
One of the things I love about Mt. Juliet is that you don’t have to go far to enjoy the outdoors. Whether you want to take the kids to play, walk a few miles, let the dog run, cool off on a hot summer day, or get the family together, there’s a great place to go that's nearby.
I've listed my opinion of the best Mt Juliet park for the various categories. Here's my list!
Best Park for Kids: Charlie Daniels Park
It’s hard to beat Charlie Daniels Park if you have kids. Planet Playground is a huge fenced playground with plenty to climb, slide and explore.
During the summer, Ava’s Splash Pad may be the biggest attraction of all.
Add basketball, tennis, pickleball, sand volleyball and a skate park, and this is easily one of the best places in town for kids in the park system.
Special Mention: Eagle Park on West Division Street is a small bicycle park designed to help younger children learn and practice bike safety.
Best Park for Dogs: Mt. Juliet Bark Park
Sometimes the dog needs an outing too!
The Mt. Juliet Bark Park provides a fenced area where dogs can get off the leash, run and be dogs! The park also has a playground, pavilion and sand volleyball court, so there’s something for the rest of the family too.
Special Mention: Jones Family Park also has a bark park, as well as a sand volleyball court.
Best Place for Walking: Charlie Daniels Park Greenway
I enjoy the 2 mile trail from Charlie Daniels Park. The beginning is at the back of the park. Go across the bridge, walk to the soccer fields and back. It's a great route that runs alongside the Cedar Creek.
For a quieter walk, I like Robinson Family Park. It’s a Certified Wildlife Habitat and has a walking trail along with outdoor fitness equipment.
Don’t overlook Mt. Juliet’s growing greenway system. The Providence Greenway is about 2.9 miles, while Golden Bear Trail is about 2.25 miles.
If you haven’t explored our greenways lately, you may be surprised at how many options we have.
Best Place for Swimming: Cedar Creek
We don’t have to travel very far to enjoy one of Middle Tennessee’s greatest outdoor resources: Old Hickory Lake.
The Cedar Creek Recreation Area is my pick when you actually want to get in the water. It offers a swimming beach along with boating, fishing, picnicking and a playground. It’s tough to beat spending a few hours at the lake with friends and family.
Best Park for a Family Get-Together: Charlie Daniels Park
Charlie Daniels gets another win.
The park has multiple pavilions and a gazebo that can be reserved for birthdays, reunions, church groups and family gatherings. With playgrounds, the splash pad and plenty of other activities close by, the kids have something to do while everyone else visits.
Best Park for Exercise: Mundy Memorial Park
If you’d like to get a workout while enjoying the outdoors, check out Sgt. Jerry Mundy Memorial Park.
There’s a walking track and outdoor workout station, plus tennis and pickleball courts. The park also includes a playground, pavilion and multipurpose field.
Best Hidden Gem: Eagle Park
Eagle Park probably isn’t the first place most people think of when they hear “Mt. Juliet parks,” which is exactly why I’m including it.
This small park on West Division Street was designed as a place for children to ride bicycles and learn bike safety. It doesn’t try to be everything to everybody. It simply does one thing really well.
Best Overall Park: Charlie Daniels Park
If we’re choosing one park that offers the most for the most people, Charlie Daniels Park gets my vote.
From Planet Playground and Ava’s Splash Pad to walking, pickleball, basketball, skateboarding, concerts and family gatherings, it really is Mt. Juliet’s community park.
But the best part is that Charlie Daniels isn’t our only option. Between neighborhood parks, greenways and Old Hickory Lake, there are plenty of ways to get outside and enjoy Mt. Juliet.

🛍️ Fall Yard Sale Season Is Here!
I love Fall yard sale season. There’s just something about wandering through a neighborhood on a Saturday morning, coffee in hand, on the hunt for that one thing you didn’t know you needed. 😂 Plus, fall yard sales usually mean cooler temps and those nice, comfortable mornings that make treasure hunting even better. Apparently, Tennessee hasn’t quite gotten the memo this year, but there are still plenty of great sales happening around Mt. Juliet this Saturday!
🏡 7-Community Yard Sale
Saturday, Sept. 26 • Starting at 8 a.m.
Seven Mt. Juliet communities are joining together for one big yard sale day in the North Golden Bear Gateway / Lebanon Rd. area, making it easy to hop from one neighborhood to the next.

Stone Hollow
Park Glen
Bradshaw Farms
Saddlewood
Cypress Glen
After you’ve shopped the seven-community sale, don’t forget about Joy Church’s Annual Free Yard Sale. Everything is free—including breakfast—so it’s a fun stop to add to your Saturday morning adventure.
