✈️ Music City STOL Lands in Lebanon This Weekend

Something you don't see every day: the country's most fearless backcountry pilots are coming to Lebanon Municipal Airport this Friday and Saturday (Oct 9–10) for Music City STOL — a national short takeoff and landing competition where pilots battle for the shortest combined takeoff-and-landing distance, measured to the foot. Big tires, short landings, and you're close enough to feel the engines roar.
This is the event's first year at its new long-term home in Lebanon, and last year's edition drew 1,300 fans from 14 states.
The details: Friday is practice rounds (starting at noon); Saturday is the main competition, 10 AM–3:30 PM, with warbird displays from the Commemorative Air Force, food trucks, and vendors. Tickets are $20 and cover both days; kids 12 and under are free. Bring a chair, sunscreen, and water — no pets, no outside alcohol.
One heads-up: Saturday's showing an 80% chance of rain, so personal umbrellas are welcome — and the Saturday-only VIP section with its shaded tent might be worth springing for.
The feel-good part: it's hosted by BOLD Aviation, a nonprofit that funds flight training scholarships for young aviators. Every ticket helps put the next generation of pilots in the cockpit. Click here for more info.

🎃 Pick Your Scare Level: 6 Places to Get Your Spook On
Halloween is getting closer, and if you're looking for something a little spooky to do, you don't have to go far. We found several options around Mt. Juliet and nearby — from family-friendly and just a little scary to definitely not for the faint of heart. 👻
🍬 Zero scares — Chills and Thrills at Cedars of Lebanon | Lebanon

This one is for the littlest ghosts and goblins! Cedars of Lebanon’s annual Chills and Thrills is Saturday, Oct. 31, from 4–8 PM, with decorated campsites, trick-or-treating, hayrides, a costume contest and, of course, CANDY.
There’s also sensory-friendly trick-or-treating from 4:30–6 PM for younger or sensory-sensitive kids. It’s just $2 per person (ages 2+), but tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance.
🦇 Low Scares: Raven’s Hollow | Mt. Juliet

Looking for spooky without the jump scares? Raven’s Hollow at Circle P Ranch is a family-friendly, quarter-mile haunted trail with props and animatronics — but no roaming actors or jump scares.
There are complimentary s’mores, plus the Raven’s Nest Cafe with baked goods, hot cider and face painting.
It opens Friday, October 9, and runs select nights from 7–9:30 PM through Halloween. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $10 for ages 3–5 and free for kids 2 and under. Tickets are available at the booth only, and the event is rain or shine.
🎃 Low Scares: Hauntings at The Hermitage | Hermitage

Hauntings at The Hermitage is a Halloween outing with a little bit of everything and it’s happening for one night only on Saturday, October 10.
Families can enjoy a trick-or-treat trail, haunted hayrides, roaming actors and live entertainment, along with food trucks and refreshments. There will also be fireside ghost stories and a lantern-lit walk through the historic grounds after dark.
It's a fun mix of costumes, candy, spooky stories and fall atmosphere — without committing to a full-on haunted house. Tickets are $25.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids 13 and under.👻🍂
👻 Low Scares — Ghosts in the Grove | Lebanon

Here’s another not-so-scary option that’s perfectly family-friendly. Ghosts in the Grove takes place October 9 & 10 at the Historic Village at James E. Ward Agricultural Center, with ghost stories, a spooky trolley ride through the woods and the chance to explore the Historic Village after dark. It’s a fun way to get into the Halloween spirit without too many scares! Tickets are $12 for adults and kids 13+, $7 for kids 6–12, and free for kids 5 and under.
😱 Real Scares: Dead Land Haunted Woods | Lebanon

Ready to turn things up a notch? Dead Land Haunted Woods features multiple haunted trails winding through the Tennessee woods, plus a 10-minute escape room, bonfire and concessions.
It runs Friday and Saturday nights through October 31, with tickets starting at $22.
💀 Real Scares: Backwoods Nightmare | Lebanon

Backwoods Nightmare has three outdoor haunted trails spread across 15 acres, with each trail taking about 25–35 minutes to walk through the pitch dark. And they redesign the trails every year, so there’s always something new to see.
This year’s lineup includes Gladeville Nightmare, Woods of Terror and The Hunt, a riddle-solving trail. New for 2026, there’s also a paintball area and carnival games.
Tickets are $20 for one trail, $30 for two or $40 for all three, with concessions available on site.
So, whether you’re looking for something spooky, seriously scary, or totally kid-friendly, there’s plenty of Halloween fun around Mt. Juliet and Lebanon. Now all that’s left to do is pick your adventure! 🎃
🍕 Where to Get Pizza & Beer This Friday

Tomorrow, October 9, is International Beer and Pizza Day — and luckily, you don't have to go far to celebrate. 🍕🍺
Here are a few Mt. Juliet spots where you can grab a pizza and a cold beer, including some Friday specials we were able to confirm:
Jonathan's Grille
Try Jonathan’s Margherita pizza—it’s excellent. On Friday, you can pair it with 2-for-1 beers of the month all day, plus 2-for-1 beers until 7 PM. From 10 PM to close, you can also get 2-for-1 draft and bottled beers, along with an $8 12" one-topping pizza special.
The Pub Bar & Grill
Pizza, burgers, wings and a Friday happy hour from 3–7 PM make this a pretty easy choice for a casual Friday night. You'll find discounted domestic beers, wine and well drinks, plus half-price appetizers.
Calabria Brickoven Pizzeria
For more of a date-night feel, Calabria has brick-oven pizzas along with beer, wine and cocktails. They don't currently have a published happy hour, but you don't really need an excuse for pizza from a brick oven. 😉
Mt. Juliet Sport & Social Co.
Pizza and beer definitely fit the vibe here. Their menu includes a buffalo chicken pizza, and Friday's 4–7 PM happy hour includes $4 wells, $4 wines, $4 domestic bottles and $1 off drafts.
Breeden's Orchard
Fresh, made-to-order pizza + beer or hard cider + the orchard? Yes, please. Friday is also Stein Happy Hour, with $12 steins and $7 refills.
The Goat
Grab a pizza (the Devil on Goatback is one to try) and pair it with something from their draft selection. They have weekday afternoon happy hour specials, although those can change, so check the current specials when you go.
🍕 So...where are you celebrating Beer & Pizza Day?
🏡 Skip the Drive:
Stay local, Mt. Juliet. The best shops and restaurants are right in your backyard.

Before you head into Nashville for your next date night or birthday dinner, you'll want to know about Tholos Mediterranean Restaurant... it's right here in Mt. Juliet.
The first thing I noticed when I went wasn't the food, although we'll get to that. It was how we were treated. The owner and the chef both came out to our table and walked us through the menu, dish by dish. That kind of personal touch is rare, and it set the tone for the whole night.
My advice is to order family style. Everything comes out together, beautifully arranged on big shared platters, and it's the kind of spread that makes everyone at the table reach for their phones before their forks. The portions are generous, they cook with fresh, local ingredients whenever they can, and even the tea is brewed in house.
Save room for the kunefe. It's a warm, crispy, cheese-filled dessert soaked in sweet syrup, and I almost skipped it. It literally lives rent free in my head now.

If you've never had Mediterranean food, don't let that stop you. The staff is happy to talk you through the menu and help you find something you'll love.
Planning a celebration? Tholos also has a beautiful private dining room for birthdays, showers, or a team dinner that deserves better than a conference room.

And there's more on the way. Tholos is opening a gelateria next door soon, with gelato imported straight from Italy. Stay tuned... I'll be back with a full review once it opens.
They're also generous with the community. Tholos is donating a $30 gift card for the giveaway at The Fall Edit, a women's community event happening this Saturday, October 10, here in Mt. Juliet.

🏃 Healthy Kids Running Series Returns to Charlie Daniels Park

Got a kid who loves to run, race or just burn off some energy? The Healthy Kids Running Series is back at Charlie Daniels Park this fall, and it's not too late to join!
The five-week series is open to kids from Pre-K through 8th grade, with races designed for different age groups — from 50- and 75-yard dashes for the littlest runners to a full mile for grades 4–8.
Kids earn points each week based on their finish, and everyone who completes the series gets a finisher medal, with trophies awarded to the top runners in each division.
📅 Sundays at 2 PM
Oct. 18, Oct. 25, Nov. 1 & Nov. 8 (Awards Week)
📍 Charlie Daniels Park
Registration for the full series is $54 and includes race bibs, a runner shirt, finisher medal and sponsor goodies. Registration is open through Oct. 25 at 11:59 PM. Single-day registration is also available onsite before each race if you're not ready to commit to the whole series.
One especially cool part: the Challenger Division gives kids with disabilities or special needs the chance to participate in an adaptive 75-yard race, with parents, siblings and friends welcome to join them on the course.
And if your kid isn't quite ready to run, volunteers are also needed — which could be a great opportunity for high school or college students looking for service hours.

Despite his difficult start, Buggie is a sweet, loving boy who just wants to be close to his people. He has so much love to give and would make a wonderful companion for someone willing to give him the extra love and care he deserves. ❤️
