July 9, 2026
Good morning, Mt. Juliet!
We hope everyone had a fantastic, safe, and celebratory 4th of July weekend! Whether you were catching local fireworks, firing up the grill, or just soaking up some well-deserved downtime, we’re glad you had a chance to make some great memories. Now that the smoke has cleared and the sparklers are safely in the trash, it's back to reality — and believe it or not, we are less than a month away from the start of the school year. Before the school supply runs and early morning alarms completely take over, there's still plenty of summer left to enjoy. We've put together some great ways to do just that below.
As always, if there's something you'd like us to know about, something you'd like to share, or you just want to say hi — we'd love to hear from you! Wishing you a wonderful week ahead. Let's dive in! 🌞

🎆 Mt. Juliet Celebrated America’s 250th with Unforgettable Fireworks Shows

Mt. Juliet lit up the sky this Fourth of July with two standout community celebrations—“Let Freedom Ring” at Circle P Ranch and the Citizens of Mt. Juliet Fireworks Blast on North Mt. Juliet Road. Both events drew strong crowds from across the area, with families arriving early, filling parking areas, and spreading out blankets and chairs for an evening of food trucks, music, and patriotic fun leading up to the shows.
As the sun set, both locations delivered impressive fireworks displays that lived up to the excitement surrounding America’s 250th birthday celebration. The shows were widely praised by attendees for their quality and timing, and the overall atmosphere reflected a strong sense of community pride and summer celebration. A huge thank-you goes out to the sponsors, organizers, and city partners who made the events possible—and to the thousands of residents who came out to support and celebrate together. Mt. Juliet continues to show how special community moments can feel when everyone comes together under the same night sky.

🧇A Second Waffle House is Coming to Mt. Juliet!

Good news for late-night breakfast lovers: a second Waffle House is officially in the works for Mt. Juliet. The new location is planned for 12085 Lebanon Road, taking over the former self-service car wash just east of Nonaville Road. City officials provided an on-site update this week confirming the project is already underway and is actively progressing. No official opening date has been announced yet, but September is the target. Stay tuned for updates — your 2 AM waffle craving is about to have a much shorter drive!
🐾 Borrow a Best Friend for the Day!

Looking for a fun, feel-good way to spend an afternoon? The Mt. Juliet Animal Shelter's Breakout Day program lets you take a shelter dog out for a few hours of fresh air, exercise, and adventure—and it's every bit as rewarding as it sounds.
My daughter and I recently took a sweet pup named Yuki on a Breakout Day, and we had the best time exploring the Cedar Creek Greenway together. Watching her enjoy the sights, smells, and freedom outside the shelter was such a joy, and it reminded us how much a simple outing can mean to a dog waiting for a forever home.
These outings do more than give shelter dogs a break from kennel life. They help shelter staff learn about each dog's personality, behavior, and preferences in a real-world setting, making it easier to match them with the right family. In fact, one lucky dog named Dip N Dots found her forever home after a couple took her on a Breakout Day and fell in love!
Whether you're looking for a walking buddy, hoping to brighten a dog's day, or maybe even searching for your next four-legged family member, this program is well worth checking out. Breakout Days are available several times each week for adults ages 18 and older with a valid ID. It's best to call ahead so the shelter can have a pup ready for your adventure.
❤️ Trust us—you'll be giving a shelter dog a great day, but chances are they'll make yours even better.
