We stumbled into one of Mt. Juliet’s newest spots, Spud & Butter, on a random weekday around lunchtime—and it turned out to be a great call.

They’re located at 2059 N. Mt. Juliet Rd in the new strip mall by the train station. The front lot was packed, so we parked in the back and headed in.

We were greeted with a long line, but also some really cool stuff to check out while we waited. They have a nice deli case filled with delicious looking desserts and salads, along with a few other items like cans of soda, plus a tea station that honestly deserves its own moment.

If you like iced tea… oh, this is your place. Mango, blueberry, peach, lemon, fruit punch, and more—most in sweet and unsweet. My daughter was especially impressed with the cherries and fresh fruit slices (orange, lemon, lime) that you can add in.

The menu isn’t huge, but there’s enough variety to make most people happy (unless you’re avoiding carbs… and then this might not be your spot 😄). They also had a soup of the day and some salads.

We stuck with the namesake, and each ordered a spud. There’s a kid’s menu when you get to the register so my daughter was able to order something from that. She went with the Broccoli Mac & Cheese potato, and I ordered a classic loaded potato minus the bacon.

Our food came out quickly—but finding a table was another story. We had to stand off to the side and wait for a table to open up. The wait wasn’t very long though and we were able to sit down soon enough.

Totally worth it.

The portions are solid. The regular spud is definitely filling—maybe not massive, but plenty to fill you up. The kid’s size was actually perfect for lunch (honestly… I might go that route next time).

👉 Pro tip #1: They have a Build-Your-Own-Spud. Start out with a plain potato for $5 and add each topping (Butter, Sour Cream, Chives, Bacon, Cheese) for an additional charge.

And the food? Really good.
Plenty of cheese, plenty of butter, a fair amount of sour cream, but could have used more chives. My daughter needed a little encouragement on the broccoli, but she loved the mac and cheese and cleaned her plate.

👉 Pro tip #2: Go early or plan to take it to-go if you’re visiting during peak times.
(It comes in a handled brown paper bag, which is a nice touch.)

I’d absolutely recommend giving Spud & Butter a try. With so many new restaurants popping up around Mt. Juliet, this one stands out as a solid, casual lunch spot.

And something tells me we’ll be back… probably on another random weekday, and definitely when we’re hungry. 😁
